This Saturday will mark the 730th episode of Saturday Night Live. We’ve seen many key players grace our screens from Chevy Chase to Kristen Wig. And with each new season marks another opportunity for a featured player to make themselves stand out.

Last season we said goodbye to three key players, Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Abby Elliot.

Season 38 began on Sept. 15 and introduced four new members to the Saturday Night Live cast.

3. Tim Robinson

Robinson is the third featured player of this season to be picked off the stage at Second City.

4. Kate McKinnon

Already making a name for herself for her impression of Ann Romeny, McKinnon actually joined the cast of April of this year. She was discovered during her stint at the New York’s Upright Citizen’s Brigade.

Previous featured players including Vanessa Bayer, Taran Killam and Jay Pharaoh, have now been moved a full-fledged members after nearly two years of being on the cast.

These featured players have been proving themselves and are likely to stay on the cast. It’s a great year to be a cast member of the famed variety show, being an election year and all. During these years Saturday Night Live always seems to do the best during the election years.

A lot have said ‘Saturday Night Live hasn’t been funny for years,’ but these new cast members have a chance to change those individuals opinions.

The season has taken off fairly well with a great mix of musical guests and hosts including Seth MacFarlane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Daniel Craig, Christina Applegate, Bruno Mars, Frank Ocean, Mumford & Sons, Muse and Passion Pit.

Saturday’s episode is expected to go well with host Louis C.K. and musical guest Fun.
